The Mythic
Imagination weekends draw attention to a neglected, almost secret,
tradition which asserts that soul and its chief faculty, imagination, are
of the essence.
From Plato and
Plotinus, through the Renaissance magi, to the Romantic poets and modern
depth psychologists - notably C G Jung - our tradition grounds reality
itself in the images we call gods and daimons, and in the unauthored
narratives we call myths.
Our speakers and
facilitators try to show how this reality - this Soul of the World, this
Primary Imagination - informs all our perceptions and underpins our arts,
our dreams, our very lives.
The weekends are high-powered but at the same time informal and fun.
They comprise talks, discussions, films and field trips in the
exceptionally beautiful landscape of
undiscovered West Dorset.
